Koinonia’s Annual Spring Fling Dance is just around the corner! This being said… we have A LOT of planning to do. Koinonia Homes is a nonprofit organization that serves approximately 600 adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) in Northeast Ohio. We are seeking volunteers to help us plan an all-abilities dance party that we host for the people we serve each year. We have a great venue – the Holiday Inn in Independence, and a live band booked for Sunday May 6th. This is our clients favorite event of the year, so we want to make it something special!
We have organized two volunteer events in hopes to give everyone a chance to share their ideas:
Our first meeting will be held at the Independence Public Library, Conference Room 8 on Tuesday, March 27th at 7pm.
The second meeting will be a week later at the Burntwood Tavern on Tuesday, April 3rd at 7pm. The Burntwood Tavern is in Solon and they were generous enough to host our event. This meeting will be held in their Harvest room, which can accommodate up to 24 people.
The agenda of the meetings will include:
- Developing the theme “Dancing with the Stars.”
- Finding a $2,500 sponsor.
- Discussion of a photo booth, other guest delights, raffle baskets, door prizes, and recruiting “day of” events.
The meetings will only take about an hour, and we could really use your support. Interested volunteers can attend either meetings without any RSVP in advance, but they are encouraged to call Cheryl Senko at (216) 588-8777 ext. 350 with questions and ideas.
