Waiver Program Supervisor Tamara Kirks was recognized with a 2022 Peter Nebenzahl Champions Award. According to her nomination, “Tamara has compassion for the individuals at her home. Tamara goes above and beyond to meet the needs of the individuals. She has been involved with the success story of Maggy. Maggy came to the agency needing one on one staffing, several psyche hospitalizations, attended day programs, and inability to care for herself and her health. Now, 4 years later, Maggy has alone time without staff and has remote monitoring at night. Maggy has been successfully employed at Dollar Tree for over a year and no longer attends a Day Program. Maggy takes responsibility for her health and makes better choices for her diabetes.”
About The Peter Nebenzahl Champions Award
The Peter Nebenzahl Champion Award was created by Nancy Nebenzahl, a family member of an individual we serve.
The award is given annually to five deserving Koinonia DSPs who are living and applying the principles of trauma-informed care to the people that Koinonia serves.
