Koinonia Homes, a nonprofit organization that serves approximately 600 adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) in Northeast Ohio is seeking community volunteers to plan three events this year. Potential volunteers can meet at The Little Birdie Wine Nest, 6060 Broadview Road, Parma Ohio 44134 at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, February 6th. The meeting should take approximately an hour.
The volunteers will be helping to plan Koinonia’s annual Spring Fling Dance. We are seeking assistance locating a handicap accessible venue that can hold 300+ dancers, as well as establishing the timeline and choosing the food options for the party. The group will also assist in creating a budget and identify possible sponsors.
“This is a great opportunity for family members, donors, board members, and other community members to make an impact in the lives of people who have I/DD in our community,” said Cheryl Senko, Director of Development and Communications for Koinonia. “This party means so much to so many of people.”
Interested volunteers can attend the meeting without any RSVP in advance but are encouraged to call Cheryl Senko at (216) 588-8777 ext. 350 with questions and ideas. Participants will be able to enjoy the Little Birdie Wine Nest’s Wednesday night wine swirl after the meeting, which features wine tastings and live music.
“We really need the support of the community to make these events successful,” exclaimed Senko. “The parties have grown in size and popularity, it takes a solid core of volunteers to make them successful.”
