The kind of leadership we usually encounter in business assumes a top-down perspective. The Koinonia Way, however, teaches us that our culture needs to be more inclusive and collaborative, to help everyone who is worked and served here realize their full potential.  That’s why we believe in leading from the inside out.

Instead of the top-down model, the Koinonia Way teaches us that the best leadership first occurs from the inside out – offering to others part of ourselves that inspires them. When we think of leading, we think of guiding and directing others, pointing the way, setting direction. But before a leader can do any of those things, they must first open up. Leaders must step beyond the boundaries of what is familiar and routine and directly touch the people and environment they want to inspire. Leading others requires that we first open ourselves to the world around us.
