The Koinonia Homes, Inc. which is a private nonprofit corporation intends to submit a Proposal for a capital grant under the provision of 49 USC Section 5310 of the Federal Transit Act to provide transportation service for the disabled and elderly of that population within Cuyahoga County and surrounding areas. The grant Proposal will request two replacement vehicles for our current transportation fleet. One to be a 2018 Elkhart Coach ECII (6-4) and the other a 2018 Elkhart Coach ECII (10-4).
It is projected that 190 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities will use the service 5 days a week for various activities, including transportation to/from day programs, community-based events throughout Cuyahoga, Summit, and Lorain Counties, medical appointments, social and recreational outings, and group activities. The Koinonia Homes invites comments and proposals from all interested public, private and paratransit operators including taxi operators, for the provision of transportation service to the elderly and disabled within our service area.
