Koinonia Teams Up with Local Girl Scout Troops to Spread DD Awareness
Koinonia is teaming up with several local Girl Scout Troops to raise awareness and spread the joy of Girl Scout Cookies during Developmental Disabilities DD Awareness Month.
The mission of Girl Scouting is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. The purpose of Developmental Disabilities DD Awareness Month is to raise awareness about the inclusion of people with DD in all facets of community life, as well as awareness of the barriers that people with disabilities still sometimes face in connecting to the communities in which they live. Several Koinonia employees are also Girl Scout Troop leaders, and they recently met with our development department to brainstorm ways they could work together to spread DD Awareness during the month of March. We came up with a plan to offer the opportunity for our donors, families, and employees to purchase Girl Scout Cookies for our residential and adult day sites, and have them delivered by local Girl Scouts.

It’s easy to participate. Just choose which kind of cookies you’d like to purchase, and where you’d like them delivered. We will internally dispatch your order to the closest Girl Scout Troop and arrange for delivery. Watch our social media pages for pictures of the Girl Scouts spreading awareness and delivering cookies to our residences this month.
If you’re a Koinonia employee and you’d like to order cookies for yourself, just add that in the comments and they will be delivered to the home office for you.
So go ahead! Buy some cookies, raise awareness, and let people with DD know that our community is behind them during DD Awareness Month, and all year long.
