For the second year in a row, KeyBank employees visited both Koinonia Enterprises’ locations to perform mock interviews for our job seekers. The event was part of KeyBank’s annual Make a Difference Day.

A mock interview, also known as a practice interview, is a simulation of an actual job interview. It provides job seekers with an opportunity to practice for an interview and receive feedback.

One of the individuals they interviewed was Rachel. According to the volunteers, they were very impressed with Rachel’s intelligence and communication skills. In the past year, Rachel has come a long way with her communication skills and her willingness to socialize with people. The interview was a great way of building her confidence and motivating her to continue on her employment journey.

Dwayne was also interviewed, everyone was impressed by his ability to retain information and receive feedback. They were happy to see how he was interested in finding work because “he wants to work” rather than just earning a paycheck.  One interviewer reminded Dwayne to smile, and he cracked a huge smile right away and remembered to smile through the rest of the interview.

Many of the volunteers asked a lot of great questions and generally interested in what we do here at Koinonia. One volunteer said how she was nervous coming into the day and did not know what to expect. She said she did not know much about the field and the demographic we serve. She wasn’t expecting to see such happy faces all around the building and loved interacting with our individuals. All of the volunteers said how amazing the experience was for them not only to be here and visit but to learn about and interact with the individuals and see the opportunities we provide them.
