For nearly 50 years, Koinonia has been providing services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and other complex conditions. Of our roughly 600 clients, 65% of the people we care for have co-existing medical conditions, and 85% have a mental health diagnosis in addition to an intellectual or developmental disability.
Addressing their complex medical needs in a whole-person, integrated setting can significantly improve their quality of life. With the help of our donors, we are able to utilize the best tools and resources to enable our clients to achieve their goals.
Give in tribute to honor a friend or loved one. Also consider a gift to celebrate those special moments such as birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, and graduations. You can also make a gift in memory of a loved one. When you make a memorial/honor gift, we will send a handwritten card to the persons you want us to notify, informing them of this special tribute (the amount of the gift is not listed).
Koinonia is fortunate to have a group of special donors called our Circle of Potential. These donors agree to give a minimum of $1,000 a year (less than $3 a day) to ensure that people with disabilities can truly lead a life without limits.
Donors automatically become members of the Circle of Potential if they make:

Koinonia's Independence Society recognizes the individuals who have thoughtfully made a planned gift through their will, charitable trust, a IRA or life insurance beneficiary designation, or through other planned vehicles. We are grateful for the individuals who have decided to make this ultimate gift to support people with disabilities and their families. There is no minimum gift requirement to join the Independence Society.

The Peter Nebenzahl Champion Award honors Koinonia Direct Service Providers (DSPs) who display Trauma-Informed Care Techniques when working with people with IDD.
