We Love DSP is Tissue Paper and Modge Podge on cardboard/ Colorful tissue paper was arranged by a group of individuals from Koinonia. The bright colors juxtaposed together to create a compelling landscape that mimics a stain glass window. The bright colors dance around the central theme of the piece, a heart/love. The title of the piece We Love DSP is a tribute to Direct Support Professionals. DSP’s are the backbone of Koinonia and other providers who support individuals with developmental disabilities. They indeed are at the center of quality of care within Koinonia. This 26 inch X 29.5 inch piece is framed without a front glass to symbolize the need for love and care to be accessible without barriers or restrictions. CLICK HERE TO BID.
Tiger Lily is Acrylic on Cloth. This vivacious, fiery orange piece mirrors the pedals of the Tiger Lily flower. Because of the vibrant colors of the flower, it symbolizes positivity and confidence. When we focus on our strengths together, we accomplish something much greater as a team. For this exercise, the individuals were broken into groups. One group painted, another group cut strips and the last group arranged. In this team-building exercise we realized each group had different tasks. Each group was essential to complete the final piece. 29 inch X 31 inch with frame. CLICK HERE TO BID.
KE Life is Acrylic on Cloth. This piece was named after an unofficial mantra within the Koinonia Enterprise. “KE Life” is a slogan voiced by staff during a catch-22 situation. When working with many personalities and behaviors, difficult circumstances can arise. Some situations have no escape because of mutually conflicting situations; “KE Life” 29 inches X 31 Inch with Frame. CLICK HERE TO BID.
Koinonia Dream is Acrylic on Cloth. When we focus on our strengths together, we accomplish something much greater as a team. For this exercise, the individuals were broken into groups. One group painted, another group cut strips and the last group arranged. In this team-building exercise we realized each group had different tasks. Swarm of Jellyfish is Acrylic on Canvas. Unified in a swarm, our individuals embark in a program beyond the walls of confinement. Barriers have been constructed over the years to keep individuals “safe” but in fact those same walls prevent development and growth. A light at the end of a long and dark tunnel has opened wide and has given many individuals the opportunity to escape a period of hardship and embrace a new world. We move together like jellyfish into the community, the community is the swarm. Could you tell which Jelly Fish doesn’t belong to the swarm? It’s a trick question, they all belong. Individuals with developmental disabilities often face adversity in our communities when in reality they belong, just as much as anyone else. This 24 inch X 48 Inch piece was a group art project created by members of Koinonia’s Community Pilot Program. The program was created so individuals with developmental disabilities can experience life in the community beyond the walls of an adult day center; the path to inclusion. CLICK HERE TO BID.
