2017 Founders Award Winner non-DSP Category is Patricia Matzinger

The Founder’s Award is the most prestigious award. It was established to specially recognize two associates who have consistently demonstrated exemplary efforts and outstanding service to our mission. This year’s recipients of the Founder’s Award have demonstrated their commitment to Koinonia through honest fellowship, interdependence, unselfish caring and compassionate partnering with people who have developmental disabilities to achieve healthy, fulfilling enriched lives. Each recipient received a special plaque and a check for $500. Their names are also added to the Founder’s Award plaque hanging in the home office. Winners are chosen by a committee that includes past winners of the award.

The 2017 Founder’s Award in the non-DSP category was nominated by Andy Dobrin, Chief Operating Officer and goes to Patti Matzinger, Director of Waiver Services. In her nomination, Andy wrote:

“I can think of few employees who exemplify the qualities that we expect of our Founder’s Award winners, more than Patti Matzinger. Patti’s boundless warmth, energy, and compassion make her a natural leader. But more importantly, it is her dedication to our individuals which truly makes her stand out.

Person-centeredness is so much more than a phrase in Patti’s mind- it is about sincerely understanding each of the individuals in her program – their hopes and dreams, their limitations and challenges, but most importantly their ABILITIES.  It is from this platform that Patti approaches her work here at Koinonia.”
